At Belleair Bonsai we have multiple stages of development in our Japanese Black Pine inventory. From two year old seedling cuttings to four year old bunjin and informal upright prebonsai. These Japanese Black Pine have been meticulously grown from seed and only the best ones are chosen to become part of our nursery stock. All of our trees here at the nursery are grown in completely inorganic aggregate for the best results in feeder root development.
We also are a leader in the development of collected material in the west central region of Florida. Our native Yamadori are collected from private property right here in Florida. With the guidance of bonsai Masters trained in Japan we have a 95 percent survival rate on our specimens. These Yamadori are hand selected by trained hunters who are able to see the best material in the overwhelming forests where they are found. Trees collected by Belleair Bonsai are chosen not only for their unique qualities but all of them have superb nebari and are nursed very carefully over the first year of healing. Branch selection is done the second year and development begins at this time.
The development of Yamadori is an art of technique, patience, and horticulture taught to Belleair Bonsai employees by bonsai Masters. These techniques have been passed down generations in Japan and here at Belleair Bonsai we have been chosen to be recipients of this treasured ancient knowledge.
Available Yamadori species are Parsley Hawthorn, Native Hornbeam, Bald and Pond cypress, Winged Elm, Red Maple and many more.
All of our collected material is found, brought back to the nursery and completely bare rooted as all of the organic soil is removed. Great care is taken to protect the roots as they are cleaned. We then replace the organic soil with inorganic pumice and lava for the best recovery results.
Also we have inorganic soil available both pumice and lava as well as the perfect container for your bonsai. Come and see!
Here at Belleair Bonsai we focus on quality over quantity and when you decide to visit us you will see for yourself that the attention to detail is quite important.
